Chai Tea Recipe

Ingredients
2 cups of water
6 whole black peppercorns
2 slices of fresh ginger root
1 small strip of orange peel
¼ tsp fennel seeds
½ tsp cardamom seeds
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
7 whole cloves
2 sticks of cinnamon
3 bags of black tea
3 cups 1% milk

Directions
- 1.
In a medium saucepan, combine peppercorns, ginger root, orange peel, fennel seed, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Using a mallet or the back of a ladle, lightly crush or bruise spices to release flavors.

Add water to the pan, bring to a boil and simmer with lid on for 20 minutes.
- 3.
Add the tea and steep for 10 minutes.
- 4.
Strain mixture, discarding spices and tea bags. (You should have approximately 1 cup of spiced tea base).
- 5.
Combine Truvia Original Sweetener and milk, warm to desired temperature.

Add tea spice base to warm milk mixture.
- 7.
Leftover tea can be refrigerated and enjoyed cold or reheated, stir before serving.
