Directions

  • 1.

In a medium sauce pan on medium-high heat, add unsalted butter and cook for approximately 5-7 minutes until it starts to turn an amber color. Cook for an additional 1 minute in order to slightly darken the butter even more and then set aside for 30 minutes to cool down.

  • 2.

Once the butter has cooled down to about room temperature, pour it into a large mixing bowl along with Truvia Sweet Complete® Brown with a hint of Molasses, baking powder, and egg. Whisk for about 3-4 minutes or until thoroughly combined. After that, add all-purpose flour, salt and cinnamon to the same mixing bowl.

  • 3.

Begin to mix the ingredients with a wooden spoon (or the paddle attachment for a mixer) for about 7-10 minutes. After the dough is mixed, wrap the dough in plastic film, roughly shape it into a square, then put it into the fridge for at least 20-30 minutes. Buttery dough tends to be hard to work with when it's slightly warm, so being patient is key.

  • 4.

Pull the lightly chilled dough out of the fridge and begin to roll out the dough to the desired thickness. Cut out the dough into any shape that you prefer, but try to keep them similar in size so they bake.

  • 5.

Transfer the portioned dough onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper and then put them into a 375° F oven for 15 minutes. After they're done baking, let the cookies cool down for 10 minutes on the pan.

*These cookies have 90 calories and 0.4 grams of sugar per serving compared to the regular brown sugar-sweetened version which have 110 calories and 6 grams of sugar.

Brown Butter Cookies is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Proportions incorrect Look at the ratio of wet ingredients to dry. There is no way to mix 1 egg and 8 tablespoons (1/2 cup) brown butter into 2 1/2 cups flour and 1 cup brown sugar mix and come up with a dough wet enough to form a cookie. Look at the video, he uses 2 sticks butter, much less flour and forms a moist dough. This recipe as written does not work. I had to add another 1/2 stick butter and 1 more egg. Cookies turned out kind of greasy.
