Truvia™ Rebiana Fact Sheet

Truvia™ rebiana comes from the leaves of the stevia plant, which was discovered more than 200 years ago in South America and has been used as a sweetener in various parts of the world for more than three decades. Truvia™ rebiana is different from most stevia sold today because it consists of only the best-tasting components of the stevia leaf. It is the first fully-characterized, high-purity product of its kind.

Truvia™ is the brand name for rebiana, the common or usual name for this natural sweetener.

Rebiana - Taste the Difference:

Natural Innovation - Making the Product

This new sweetener begins with a leaf. The leaves are harvested and dried, and then steeped in fresh water in a process similar to that of making tea. This unlocks the best-tasting part of the leaf, which is then further purified to make a food grade product. The finished product is the pure sweetness of Truvia™ rebiana.

Quality and Consistency

Cargill has discovered how to manage the quality of Truvia™ rebiana and make it consistent across multiple food systems and usage. This ability to control and predict the profile of the sweetener makes it possible to sweeten foods and beverages and offer a consistent, pleasing taste.

Clean, Sweet Taste

Many who had tried stevia in various forms and didn't like the taste now will be pleasantly surprised by Truvia™ rebiana. It offers a clean, sweet taste when included in beverage, food and Truvia™ tabletop sweetener.

Global Marketplace - Supply Chain

Cargill works with farmers to help them identify the hardiest varieties of stevia, grow a consistent product and produce enough to serve a global marketplace. Only companies with the resources of Cargill have the depth of capability to improve the long term quality of the plant and expand the amount that is grown, and then bring it to consumers worldwide.

Safety

Truvia™ rebiana's safety has been evaluated in a rigorous scientific research program - the first of its kind to thoroughly and critically examine the safety of a fully-characterized, high-purity form of rebaudioside-A. The results of this program definitively established the safety of Truvia™ rebiana for use as a general purpose sweetener.

Ensuring safety in food ingredients is a key component of Cargill's global business - it is something Cargill does every day across food and beverage categories globally.
